Fudge

Gavin Bates from Fudge came in to give us a talk called 'The Branding Process'. He came to talk about the re-branding of England Squash. He told us one of his main first points of calls is to research into your client, as you want to have a fuller understanding of them. Gavin said you get you ideas from your research and your best ideas come from understanding what your client is about and represents. Gavin said Fudge, when re-branding everything is split up into sections to get a clear understanding. The sections are:Project Scope and Evaluation
  1. Research and Analysis (2 days)
  2. Naming Solution (3 days)
  3. Design Concept (5 days)
  4. Design Development (2/3 days)
  5. Design Application and Artwork
Gavin then shown us some visual rough he had done, gradually getting more refined and neater as he went through them. Gavin said don't choose ideas that have already been done before. The client is asking you to re-brand. Also think how are you going to present the work to the client. He said it all down to the fine detail, look professional and your work should follow.

I think this was a good insight, to how major design agencies do their work. Which is a nice thing to do because its similar to the way I work.
